The Terry Valley Road District is responsible for the maintainences of the roads and road right of ways within the road district boundaries. The road district does not preform maintenance on all the roads with the Terry Valley subdivision.
The road district board is composed of three trustee's each serving a three year term in accordance with state statute. The annual meeting of the road district is the first Tuesday in May, as required by state statute. This is when the expired term of one of the trustee's is filled by the election of qualified candidates. If there are no qualified candidates for an election then the position can be filled by appointment with the approval of the remaining trustees.
As one of the premier winter destinations in the Black Hills and with a large number of short term rental properties within the road district. Winter road maintenance is performed at much lower snow fall amounts than other road districts and municipalities would normally operate.
